This casino terms glossary is a sorting shelf, not a dictionary. Twelve words decide how a game behaves and whether reward money can ever leave an account, and they appear on info panels and promotion terms in every lobby. Below they are grouped by where you meet them, with a short definition and a peso example for each.
Casino terms glossary, part one: how a game behaves
These four describe the game itself. Studios set them, and no lobby can change them on a given version of a title.
- RTP. Money in, money out, measured over an enormous sample. Wolf Gold’s published 96.01% means about ₱96 back per ₱100 staked across millions of spins, not tonight. The return-to-player figure in pesos page works through it.
- House edge. The remainder: 100% minus RTP. On Wolf Gold that is 3.99%, folded into every payout rather than charged at the end.
- Volatility. How the return is spread. JILI files Super Ace in its low-to-medium band, while Gates of Olympus 1000 sits at the very top of Pragmatic’s scale. See slot volatility levels compared.
- Hit frequency. The proportion of spins that pay something back, even a sum below the bet. A ₱3 return on a ₱10 spin counts as a hit and still costs ₱7. More at the hit-rate trap explained.
Part two: how a spin is priced
- Payline. A set route through the reel window. Wolf Gold runs 25 of them; Crazy777 runs one.
- Ways to win. Symbols match reel to neighbouring reel in whatever row they land. Super Ace counts 1,024 ways, and Mega Ace counts 46,656.
The difference changes what a stake buys, which the fixed lines versus ways page covers in detail.
Part three: the reward words
These five live in promotion terms, and they matter more than the headline amount.
- Turnover. Every stake added up, and the same peso counted afresh whenever it is bet again. ₱100 bet across five ₱20 spins is ₱100 of turnover; win ₱40 and bet it again, and turnover reaches ₱140.
- Wagering requirement. The clause that fixes how much turnover a reward needs, written as a multiple of some base. One lobby register offer reads “COMPLETE 8X TIME TURNOVER TO WITHDRAW”.
- Game weighting. The percentage of each bet a promotion counts toward that target. A “slot & fishing games only” clause means a live table hand counts for nothing.
- Max bet rule. A limit on any one bet until the reward clears; one spin over it can void the lot.
- Max cashout. A ceiling on withdrawable reward money. “Withdrawals are limited to 100php” before a deposit is one real example.
Part four: the player’s own number
- Bankroll. Money set aside for play that rent, food and bills do not depend on, fixed before the first spin. It is the only term on this list that you set rather than the studio or the lobby.
If you remember only three, pick turnover, volatility and bankroll. Turnover tells you what a reward really costs, volatility tells you how bumpy a game will be, and bankroll tells you when to stop. The other nine sharpen those three.
Every other read sits on the casino blog shelves. Before any of these terms matters, the legal betting age page confirms who may play (21 and over in the Philippines), and the register page lists the fields the account form wants.
How to Get Started
-
Learn the four game words first
RTP, house edge, volatility and hit frequency describe how any slot behaves; they appear on every info panel.
-
Then the reward words
The five reward words, from turnover to the cashout ceiling, decide whether reward money ever leaves the account.
-
Test yourself on one game
Open a game's info screen and name each term you see. Anything you cannot name, look up here before you stake.
