Reading an NBA line in pesos
- Moneyline: ₱500 on the 1.65 favourite returns ₱825, a ₱325 profit; ₱500 on the 2.25 underdog returns ₱1,125.
- Spread: ₱500 on Celtics -5.5 at 1.90 returns ₱950 only if they win by 6 or more; a 5-point win loses.
- Total: ₱500 on over 224.5 needs 225 combined points or more, overtime included on most books.
- Implied chance: 1 divided by 1.65 is about 60.6 percent; back the favourite only if you rate it higher.

Curator’s habit: note the opening line and the price when you bet. If the line keeps moving your way after you bet, your read matched the market’s.
Problem and fix on NBA slips
Problem: a total looks easy until overtime adds 15 points and flips an under. Fix: read the market rules; if you want regulation only, pick a market that says so.
Problem: a star sits out and a player prop on him is still open in your head. Fix: most books void a prop when the player does not play; check the rule rather than assuming the stake is safe.
Problem: three NBA spreads look strong, so they go on one slip. Fix: each extra leg multiplies the margin, as the parlay odds breakdown shows; bet them as singles unless you accept the cost.
